Book 2 in the Jack & Jill Series - NOT a standalone.

The living seek forgiveness. The dead seek revenge.

A first love.
A last breath.
A haunting past.

Armed with a sinful past and an equally sinful body, Jackson Knight absolves his vow of celibacy to pursue Sergeant Monaghan’s unsuspecting—older—housekeeper.

Ryn Middleton, on the cusp of turning forty with a snarky daughter, a killer dog, and an abusive ex-husband, finds Jackson’s advances humorous and unbelievable. After intense negotiations including Vera Wang, Ed Sheeran, and sex four times a day, Ryn accepts Jackson’s marriage proposal on their first date.

What could possibly go wrong?

While struggling to lay claim to the woman of the dreams he never had, Jackson is forced to deal with a grief-stricken Jillian trying to hold on to her past without letting go of her future—the doctor who took her heart and the Sergeant who gave her a new one.

Beyond the hope for light, lies the middle of darkness, the illusion of truth, and a haunting past.

"Love is reckless because true emotions are immune to logic. The most beautiful love stories are often the most tragic."

I often ponder, while reading a Jewel E Ann book, does she enjoy doing this? Does she sit behind her PC and type away with this snide little smirk, thinking, "I'm really going to fuck with them now!" Because that's what she does, boys and girls! Every book I've read by this master of brain manipulation has managed to put me in the coo-coo bin make me question my sanity. At the very least, question whether I have a mild case of bipolar disorder...

Why? Jewel E Ann has the ability to suck her readers in with endearingly quirky characters. You find yourself with an almost constant grin on your face...until she pulls the mother-loving rug out from under you and you find yourself crying like a baby. Why! Why does she do this to me her readers!? She mastered her one-two punch in Undeniably You. Her motto- get the reader smiling, laughing, then "I'll f*cking rip their hearts out of their chests!" I can hear her now! And here we are with the Jack and Jill trilogy and the sadist comedian (ain't that a strange play on words) returns in full force.

Oh, my review...

Middle of Knight picks up right on the heels of End of Day. Jackson and Jillian are living in their quirky little geriatric neighborhood- living a new life after their funerals. Only after Jackson swears a vow of celibacy does he meet AJ's hot 40-year old divorced housekeeper. Celibacy be damned. His kink for the older ladies has returned with a vengeance. On the other hand, Jillian's easy-going life (of getting the mail in her underwear and selling sex toys) has suddenly nose-dived with the revelation of Sarge next door being very ill. And so their story continues...

Middle of Knight was almost like reading two stories in one book. We get a lot more time with the loveable hot, tattooed Jackson Knight and his tripping over himself for Ryn the housekeeper. Lord that woman needed a hot piece of tattooed man ass Jackson in her life. She's endured a lot and her self esteem isn't great. He can't believe a perfect specimen of man like him is interested in her girly bits but he truly is. I LOVED the evolution of their relationship. It was cute and comical yet still tugged at the heartstrings due to her tragic history.

Jillian, on the other hand, is fighting the battle of her life for AJ and this quirky girl that wears red rain boots to get the mail (in her underwear) stole the show for me. Life gave her lemons and damn she made enough lemonade to quench the desert. My heart was shredded yet Jillian's easy, quick humor always added that smile to my tear-soaked face.

We also get more depth to Jillian's life before the funeral and her first true love, Luke. I found my heart gradually attaching itself to their soul-mate love story. Then she'd flip the switch to current day and AJ tore my softened heart to shreds with his tragic battles.

"What are you scared of?”
"That I won’t be able to give you everything you want.”
“I just want everything you can give me.”

That ending...did I mention Jewel E Ann is a sadist? I love her to bits but if she lived closer, my kindle would have a perma-dent in her forehead with that ending. All I've got to say is she shared a teaser and it gives me hope for the future of these characters. Otherwise I'd be taking a trip to Iowa...and there's not much in Iowa, boys and girls, other than our resident sadist author. I may just have to teepee her yard in cloth napkins. ***cue in creepy music***

Looking forward to more mind-fucking hilarity in the final installment of the Jack & Jill Series, Dawn of Forever, out in January 2016. Until then...we wait.

"God gave you a gift of 84,600 seconds today. Have you used one of them to say thank you?"

Thank you Jewel E Ann, for your gift of writing and sharing your gift with your readers!
