Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

This is one of those situations where I jumped at the chance to read a Brittainy C. Cherry book on previous experience alone. Take a look at the blurb- it's as vague as can be but knowing this author and her ability to gift her readers with an emotional journey, I dove right in.

The Gravity of Us is a book where the two main characters couldn't be more different. First, we have the king of aloof, cold heroes. Graham takes the cake for a man chock full of issues and letting anyone into his hard inner shell is almost impossible. He prefers a life of solitude and firmly believes love is a farce and makes a person weak.

Lucy, on the other hand, is the epitome of a loving, free-spirit. She thrives on life and love- of nature, people, and a general positive spirituality. When life puts these two MCs together, you couldn't ask for more different people.

"Doesn't it tire you to feel so much?"

"Doesn't it tire you to feel nothing at all?"

I so loved Lucy's character..her spunk and flower-child positive nature. Life hasn't always been so good for her but she's never let bitterness take over. She's free-spirited and the epitome of a giving character. Even against an aloof person such as Graham, his coldness was never contagious. He'd knock her down but she'd just get back up and try again with him...trying to warm his chill. Because, deep down, Lucy see's something within this beaten down man. And nobody is immune to Lucy...

"You make the world a lot less dark."

To say this book is a slow burn romance is a gross understatement. It's more a journey for these two characters- one of healing and finding solace within each other's presence. This is all heart and zero smut. It melted my heart and I truly feasted on Graham's transformation from aloof to loving. Bitter to thankful. Hateful to lovesick.

And my favorite quote of the book.....

He kissed like heaven and made love like sin.

Advanced copy received by author in exchange for my honest review.

Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She loves to take part in writing screenplays, acting, and dancing--poorly of course. Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Brittainy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family. When she's not running a million errands and crafting stories, she's probably playing with her adorable pets.
