Chloe lifted her gaze and locked it with mine. She shook her head again and groaned, “Fine.” Then she took off her shirt.

My jaw dropped.

My hands had touched her bare skin, the curve of her hips, and her tiny waist, but I’d seen her body only once, when she was in a bikini, and that had been for only a minute. But that was nothing compared to seeing her like this. Up close. So close her sports bra–covered breasts were just under my nose.

“Blake?” she whispered.

Book Review - Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

Dirty Ties is my Book of the Month in Jan 2015 and needless to say, I enjoyed this one from Pam Godwin! Check out my review below!

4 DIRTY STARS! ★★★★ 

  "The strongest love begins from a place of conflict."

Talk about hard, fast and dirty! Pam Godwin surely delivered one helluva read here that nearly made my Kindle spontaneously combust. It's official that Pam writes some of the best smut out there and being a fan of her dark reads, I'm not sure if I can possibly love this woman enough already.

   

 Oh yes, that elevator scene lived up to its expectations and the brooding mystery of the notorious Evader surely got me hooked onto this read in no time. One of the things I really enjoyed reading about is being immersed in the world of corruption, the dirty secrets behind a family corporation and with each layer of secret being peeled off slowly, there was a twist awaiting there.

"My pursuit was personal; my vendetta fermented in hatred."

 

 While the book delivered on the steam, ironically it was what that also made me struggled with the read. Initially I appreciated those scenes a lot but after a while, it came to a point that almost every scene of Kaci and Logan together were them going crazy on instalust. The angst was present with both of them feeling conflicted but it almost felt like it was not acted upon enough. Also another would be the inconsistency of Logan's character that threw me off a little. I felt like what was being portrayed by Logan in the first portion of the book got hit by a flip-switch almost too quickly after he gets enamoured with Kaci. 

 Overall I still really enjoyed this one and Pam Godwin surely is one of those authors that doesn't fail to deliver something unique and always putting her own twist to it. Also I wouldn't deem this to be her usual dark ones and definitely more on the erotica side laced with dark elements. 

I would still recommend this read if you're fan of this author's work but it wasn't my most favorite one from her ;) 

Dirty Ties is a standalone erotica suspense read with dark elements.

He doesn't even know I exist, but why would he? He jets off to Paris with supermodels, I spend Friday nights with Netflix and a chunk of Pepperidge Farm frozen cake—waiting for his call. Because every time he crashes his yacht, or blows $500k on a single roulette spin in Monte Carlo, I’m the PR girl who has to clean up his mess. 

But this time, it’s going to take more than just a fat charity donation. This time, the whole company is on the line. He needs to show investors that he’s settling down, and Step #1 is pretending to date a nice, stable girl until people forget about what happened with the Playboy Bunnies backstage at the Oscars.

You might think I’m exaggerating his attractiveness. I’m not. Picture a handsome man. No, more handsome than that. Square that jawline, brush those brown curls with gold, darken those blue eyes till they’re almost black, deep sapphire pools made for mooning over. Deepen that voice till it’s like dark chocolate, and thread it through with a sexy chameleon accent—one second so crisp and upper class it might almost be British, the second relaxing into long lazy vowels that conjured up visions of him kicking back beers on a sunny Australian beach, surfboard planted in the sand as he contemplated the rolling waves with a practiced eye. Strip away any hint of fat over that lean, muscular sailor’s physique; evenly tan his smooth skin until he’s a bronzed Adonis. 

For intrigue, add just a few scars on his powerful arms—sometimes a wide-eyed young intern might ask where he got them, and he’d flex his arms and tell a completely different story than he had the last time, each more improbable than the last. And whether it featured great white sharks, modern-day pirates, or a knife-throwing bet, that wide-eyed intern would swoon right into those arms, disappear at the end of the day into his limo, and moon around the office for a couple of weeks, constantly checking their phones for texts that never came, until they quit or until security had to boot them from the building for trying to ambush him outside of his office with pleading love notes and recriminations. 

But I’ve gotten off-topic. Back to your mental picture of a handsome man. Now picture that an entire team of crack tailors working night and day to create the perfect suit, cut to hang just right on his body, tight across shoulders you could build a house on and an ass that belonged in an underwear commercial. Imagine the world’s greatest stylists converging upon him with mousse and hairdryers until not a hair was out of place except the ones he intended to be, each chestnut lock artfully tousled for maximum effect. And then he smirks. Now freeze that perfect, sexy, infuriating bastard at that exact moment in time so that nothing ever musses him or ruffles his feathers or causes a single blip on the horizon of his life, and you’ve got Grant Devlin.

“I’m not scared of you,” I said with a confident smile.

I had a feeling that once I left his office, I’d never hear him speak of it again. I’d probably convince myself that I’d made the whole thing up in a weeks’ time.

“And Cameron,” he spoke, forcing me to pause as my hand hit the door knob. I turned my head to look back at him, hope brimming through every pore. His eyes locked with mine as he continued, “It’s not Grayson. It’s Mr. Cole. I’m not your friend while you’re here.”

I bristled at his reprimand. There he was. The formal prick. He wanted to put me in my place, but I knew his secret now. You can’t just turn attraction off like a light switch. I may have had torn tights and smudged make-up, but I was the same girl I’d been for the last twenty-two years. Which meant, deep down, Grayson was still attracted to me. A small smirk unfolded across my lips as I realized the power that knowledge gave me.

“And what about when I’m not here?” I asked, tilting my head to the side and staring into his blue eyes with more confidence than I’d felt all morning.

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
